What is a Single Select poll?

Single Select polls ask respondents to choose just one option from a set of 3 to 8. It’s similar to Head-To-Head, but gives you more than two options in a clean, easy-to-digest format.

Each respondent also leaves a written explanation for their choice, giving you valuable insight into why they picked what they did.

How to use it

  1. In the poll builder, click the question type dropdown.

  2. Under Comparison, select Single Select.

  3. Add 3 to 8 answer options (text, images, video, or audio).

  4. Finish building and launch your poll.

  5. Respondents will pick one option.

  6. After making their selection, they’ll write a comment explaining their choice.

Example use cases

  • Choosing the best product name from a shortlist

  • Selecting a preferred main image or ad visual

  • Testing book titles, headlines, or subject lines

  • Finding the strongest value proposition or tagline

Why it’s useful

Single Select is perfect when:

  • You want to narrow down options to a winner

  • You’re testing mutually exclusive ideas (e.g., one logo or one title)

  • You want more than a 2-option Head-To-Head, but don’t need ranking

It gives you quantitative clarity (what’s most popular) and qualitative depth (why people prefer it). It’s a great way to make confident decisions without overwhelming your audience – or yourself.
